(3) Worldwide Art Xpo is proud to announce that Frank Diaz Escalet has a painting in the permanent collection of the ART MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAS of the Organization of American States. This is the largest museum of Hispanic art in the Western Hemisphere.
The painting, entitled Obispo Romero Y Los Martires Jesuitas / de El Salvador (36" X 48" Acrylic / Board) was commissioned by Dr. Jose Lozano of Beaumont, Texas who donated it to the museum in July, 1996.

The ART MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAS of the Organization of American States established in 1976 by resolution of the OAS Permanent Council in tribute to the two-hundredth anniversary of the independence of the United States, host country of the OAS. Dedicated to the arts, the Museum seeks to preserve, study, and exhibit works by outstanding artists and carry out other activities of an educational nature which will increase understanding and appreciation of these cultures. With its unique regional focus, the Museum serves as a central clearing house for information on art from Latin America and the Caribbean.

BACKGROUND:
Frank Diaz Escalet, born 3/16/30 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, served in the U.S. Air Force before embarking on an art career in New York moving quickly into leathercraft work. Not only did he make leather clothing for the Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, and other rock groups, he was commissioned by Pablo Casals to make his cello case and by the Museum of Modern Art to make covers for their stone-slab seats in their sculpture garden. Frank Diaz Escalet has been a featured artist on public television, and his work has been exhibited in the National Gallery and the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. In addition, his art work is owned by many well-known collectors such as former President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan, explorer Jacques Cousteau, actor Danny Kaye, director John Huston, and the publisher of Forbes Magazine. His work is included in many permanent collections including: Naprstkovo Museum, Prague; National Gallery, Prague; Bratslavia Primitive Museum, Slovakia; and Frydek-Mistek Museum, Northern Moravia.
THEMES, MATERIALS & STYLES:
Frank's style, as he describes, is primitive and impressionistic. Frank uses, as his choice for mediums, wood, metal, paper, acrylic, oils, ink, water colors, leather, fabrics and stone.
